Here, at Baginton Fields school, we are passionate about the environment and environmental issues. We are therefore proud to be part of the Eco-Schools programme.

Eco-Schools is the largest sustainable schools initiative and operates across the world. It was devised as a result of the United Nations conference on Environment and Development (Rio Earth Summit) in 1992, when it was identified that children and young people need to be involved in the sustainability and environmental protection of our planet.

Eco Schools provides a framework that promotes healthy living, global citizenship, outdoor learning and energy. At Baginton Fields school we use Eco Schools to promote environmental management, both in school and locally, as a learning resource and as a recognised way in which students gain recognition and certification for their achievements through Eco Schools recognised awards scheme.

We have a thriving Eco Schools committee. Our committee of Eco-warriors is made up of SLT/Teaching staff, Support Staff / school Governor and students from across the three Key Stages. The role of this committee is; to promote and lead various initiatives relating to Eco Schools, support students and staff undertaking eco projects and activities and to gather and present evidence for our Eco portfolio for future awards. Over a span of nine years we are delighted to have been awarded;

In 2010 Baginton Fields was awarded Bronze Eco School award

In 2012 we were awarded Silver Eco Schools award

In 2019 we were awarded our first Green Flag award

The Eco-Schools International Green Flag Award is designed to encourage student-led, whole school action for the environment and the award is accredited externally.

We are presently working towards renewing our Green Flag status by undertaking various eco projects across the whole school.
